The Dcompress Team

  • D. Boyle, CMT, Owner

    D. graduated from U.C. Berkeley in 2001 before moving to Berlin, Germany to teach English. After living abroad for over a year and spending the summer backpacking around Europe, she returned to the states and began studying massage at San Diego’s Mueller College of Holistic Studies. It was here that she was able to combine her love for education with her desire to help people. Choosing to become a Holistic Health Practitioner allowed her to explore many different massage modalities and receive extensive training in Deep Tissue and Prenatal Massage.

After working for some of San Diego’s high-end spas, D. decided that she wanted to explore the long-term benefits of therapeutic massage. By focusing her attention on the local community, she’s been fortunate enough to develop lasting relationships with people that she’s able to see over and over again.

Building these relationships and witnessing the physical and emotional improvements in her clients is why she continues to do what she does. D. truly believes in the healing power of massage, especially when done regularly. Her goal is to make it convenient and affordable so that it will become an integral part of every client’s healthy lifestyle!

  • Kala Stutes, CMT

Originally from a little town in Northern California, Kala packed up her car and moved to San Diego right out of high school. She decided she wanted to do some traveling before furthering her education and discovered along the way that wellness and healing in a holistic sense was the right path for her.

Kala graduated from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine with 1000 hours of intensive training and focuses mainly on Swedish, Deep Tissue, Prenatal and Thai massage in her practice. She tends to use a collaboration of these modalities, depending on the needs and what is best suited for the client on her table.

Kala’s greatest passions in life are the healing arts and seeing the world. Both are incredibly rewarding, thrilling and fulfilling. She was able to travel to Thailand to further her education in Thai massage, which was a fantastic experience. She has always had a strong passion for helping others, and has found through massage, that she can have a profound impact on the health and wellbeing of others, not only physically but emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

Kala is always challenging herself to grow in her practice, as it is a never-ending adventure. She believes that connecting through touch has countless benefits and as she continues to learn, she is able to educate and give more to her clients, so that they are able to receive the best possible care. Seeing the transformation and progress within her clients, as well as simply a satisfied face, is definitely the greatest reward!

  • Kelly Rice, CMT

After studying psychology for two years at San Diego State, Kelly decided she wanted to learn a more hands-on approach to helping people and to go back toward her original intentions of doing something in the field of kinesiology, physical therapy or athletic training.

It was at Maric College in San Diego and in Riverside where she realized her passion for the healing properties of massage therapy. Kelly’s favorite thing is having regulars and being able to watch a transformation in her clients’ wellness.

  • Michelle Zavatkay, CMT

Originally from the east coast, Michelle studied massage therapy at Cortiva Institute (formerly CT Center for Massage Therapy), where she became licensed with 720 hours of training. She continued her education with 80 hours of training at MTI (Massage Therapy Institute) in Davis, California, where she specialized in cupping, reflexology and trigger point therapy.

Michelle has always had a passion for helping others, and being able to do so through the healing power of massage has greatly impacted her life in so many positive ways. Her approach to massage is therapeutic in nature. By practicing patience and compassion, she is able to focus her skills and energy to accommodate each individual client’s concerns. Providing a safe, comfortable and relaxing environment to promote healing for every client is so important.

Michelle is grateful to have discovered her calling in life, and she truly believes in the amazing benefits of massage therapy… for the mind, body and soul.

  • Nancy Valdez-Rivera, CMT

Nancy was born and raised in San Diego and is bilingual in English and Spanish. Her high school English teacher inspired her to attend San Diego City College and pursue a degree in English Literature. She knew she wanted to do something that could make a change in people’s lives, and while in school, she realized she wanted to go a step further and help people heal.

Nancy’s passion for helping others led her to pursue a career in massage therapy at San Diego’s Remmington College. Throughout her 11 year career, she has had the opportunity to hone her skills in a variety of environments. Working in a chiropractic office, performing pre and post adjustment massages, as well as multiple spa resorts and hotels here in sunny San Diego, gave her the opportunity to work on the San Diego Padres, as well as visiting professional baseball teams.

Perhaps Nancy’s most rewarding work has come during her time spent at local massage clinics. It’s there that she’s been able to build a loyal following within her community and receive numerous awards for her achievements, including the 2016 Therapist of the Year for the San Diego Region.

Having studied many massage modalities, including Deep Tissue, Swedish, Prenatal, and Sports Massage, Nancy describes her work as customized and focused. Every body is different, therefore every massage is different. Her goal is to have you feeling better than when you came in and to support your wellness goals for the future.

Nancy finds so much gratitude in improving her clients’ physical and mental well-being, and seeing how those changes can go beyond the massage table to have a positive impact on their relationships in the world around them. Anyone that knows Nancy, knows that she gives 100% and won’t settle for anything less.

  • Nicole Williams, L.Ac, CMT

Nicole is originally from New York where she attended New York College of Health Professions, studying occupational science in Massage Therapy. During this time, she saw her passion for helping others and bodywork come together with a focus on Eastern and Western modalities. After getting licensed in the state of New York, in 2006, Nicole moved to San Diego to continue her education in Traditional Oriental Medicine at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM).

After becoming a Certified Massage Therapist in 2009 and following her graduation from PCOM, Nicole became a Licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist with the state of California in 2013. Given her massage therapy background, a natural area of focus for her acupuncture practice became orthopedic, sports medicine and pain related conditions. However, because of her own struggles with women’s health issues, she gained a unique perspective of how acupuncture could truly be of benefit, and found a passion for helping other women navigate their personal journeys.

Having spent more than 6 years as a practicing Acupuncturist and over 13 years as a massage therapist, Nicole uses her diverse knowledge of both Eastern and Western medicine to tailor each client’s session around their specific goals. She believes regular acupuncture and massage are therapeutic, not just for pain or discomfort in the body, but for helping to build a stronger mind/body connection. Her ultimate goal is to help her clients begin a path for overall health and wellness.
